Shirley Abbott's Legacy
Mrs. Shirley M. (Dugas) Abbott, 88 years of Lynn died surrounded by her loving family on Monday in Union Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late William Abbott and the late Charles Patterson. She was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Joseph Francis and Dorothy Jeanette (Turner) Dugas. She was raised in Nova Scotia. She returned to Lynn at the age of 16 and has lived here since.
Mrs. Abbott was proud she completed her G.E.D. in her 60's through Operation Bootstrap. She was a member of the DAV Commanders Club in Lynn. She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. She was employed as a housekeeper in private residences in the Lynn area. She worked hard but loved life and doing things for people. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Love is what defined Shirley. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son Kenneth E. Patterson, Sr. and his wife Jeanne of Lynn, a daughter Jeannette L Boynton and her husband David of St. Augustine, FL , her brother J. Robert Dugas and his wife Nora of Lynn. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Richard Dugas.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by the Solimine , Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, Lynn.
