About Phoebe Lake

Phoebe Sue Bushman Johns Lake was born in Iowa City Iowa on Aug 21,1939 to parents Herman and Ethel Bushman. She grew up in Iowa until the death of her beloved father, Herman. Phoebe and her mother, Ethel moved to Florida in 1953 and Phoebe graduated from Sarasota High School in 1957. She attended MCC and worked as a data entry processor for Electronic Data Processing Corporation. She married Frank Johns in 1959 and they had two sons, Brian in 1966 and Jason in 1970. Phoebe divorced from Frank in 1972 and married Robert J. Lake in 1973. They had a son in 1978 named Kevin. She was a dedicated mother and wife who also worked as a loyal volunteer for The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Bradenton for over twenty years. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano as well as writing poetry. Phoebe was blessed with numerous creative talents and gifts. After the passing of her husband Robert, on June 3, 2000, Phoebe moved to be closer to her sons in St. Petersburg, Fl in 2004. She was surrounded by the love of her sons in her last years of life on Earth and she will be missed immensely. Phoebe was a devout Roman Catholic and her love for our Heavenly Father and His Son was demonstrated over the course of her life on Earth. She bestowed her faith upon her children and always fought against injustices with absolute tenacity and courage. The family takes comfort in knowing that our beautiful mother is safely home with our Father and His Son, Jesus and our Blessed Mother, Mary. We will never forget our mom nor the beautiful gifts of the Spirit that she brought us during her life.
